What I Wore Wednesday

October 2, 2013 | Fashion, fashion friday, monday mingle, today's outfit, WIWW

pleated poppy

Less pics of blazers this week, but this is not a true reflection of the state of my outfits, because I am pretty sure that the three days that I didn’t get pics, I was wearing a blazer!! Lindsay from the Pleated Poppy started What I Wore Wednesday as a way to motivate herself to get dressed each day. As she perfectly stated:

“after years of staying at home with my kids i began to “let myself go”.  i started this to motivate myself to just get dressed – put a few minutes into myself to feel better for the whole day!  if you are finding yourself in this same situation, i want to encourage you to join us –  this really works!  take a look at all the other ladies joining me – real women wearing real clothes!”

This sums up exactly why I take part, and if you feel like you are sliding into a rut, I heartily suggest you take part, too!

Summer is on its way, and the weather today was a teaser of what’s to come – the kids thought it was great to pull out the summer clothes, and I have to say I pretty glad, too, since it gave me a chance to try out these new heels. It’s a bit hard to see in the pic, but they have a cool basketweave panel that just screams summer, and after a day on my feet, I can confirm that they are super comfy.

Tan basketweave heels: Naturalizer
White and tan bag: Tory Burch
Green bangle: Myer

I had to show up in court for jury duty, and I honestly couldn’t decide if the timing was good or bad – we’re in school holidays at the moment, so it was probably more convenient, but a shame for the kids. Luckily, I wasn’t selected and was in the first group to be let go, so it didn’t end up being a problem after all. The ponte jacket was a fantastic buy: the ponte knit is comfortable but polished, the neckline is unusual, and the navy and fine white stripe is a classic print with a modern spin since it is horizontal instead of vertical (sounds little but makes a huge difference). I actually wanted it when it first came to stores, but they had sold out on my size, but it then turned up 80% off in their online outlet – super score!

Navy tank: Lands End

Black patent heels: Innovare
Faux pearl necklace: Ann Taylor

One of Irini’s friends has her birthday party at a beautiful mini-golf set in a botanical gardens, so a Liberty floral print linen shirt seemed fitting. However, while I love the look of linen on others, I have to admit that the wrinkles drive me absolutely batty!

Liberty linen shirt: Sportscraft
Mini boot cut jeans: Gap
Red flats: Witchery

Had to finish with a blazer!! I love this tee so much (it has the cutest anchors printed all over), that when it accidentally got ruined in the wash, I searched and searched until I found a new one (last one on the clearance rack). Thought I would go totally preppy with the addition of navy moccasins.

See you all next week!!
